Avg size: Crickets vary in size from a few millimeters to over 5cm depending on species and age.
Color: yellowish, brown or black.
Physical Description: Crickets have long wings that cover about half their body. They have flattened bodies with long hind legs for jumping and extremely long antennae.
Crickets are more of an annoyance than pest as their chirping can be very irritating. Crickets can chew up plants and if they get inside your house, they will chew on certain fabrics and paper products as well. Crickets also eat almost anything, so they may eat any food items left out.
Signs of an Infestation
The constant chirping of the crickets is the most obvious sign of their presence. Generally, only one or two crickets will enter a home, as crickets prefer to live outdoors. Chewed up rubber, fabric, paper or food are also signs of crickets living inside.
Removal
One or two crickets can be removed with a glue board that has food in the middle as bait. A larger cricket infestation requires the use of insecticides sprayed on entry points such as baseboards and basement areas.
